This elegant sterling silver meriden britannia bowl has a pretty art nouveau-influenced design with a floriform lobed eight body. The design is used to capture and reflect light, adding visual interest when the bowl is displayed. The walls of the bowl rise to an everted bated rim. The piece measures 9 in diameter of the outer edges of the rim and is 1,625 from the table at the top of the rim. The bowl is in good condition without removals or repairs. As an antique item, it should be noted that there are some light age-related stripes and minor folds present on the bowl that add to the patina of the piece. There are also traces of tarnish that I did not attempt to remove. These questions are mentioned for accuracy and as seen in the accompanying photos, the bowl displays beautifully. The foot of the bowl bears the meriden phoenix and the letter marks me with the sterling stamped number and the number 714. This beautiful meriden bowl would be a wonderful addition to an antique sterling silver collection or works as well as a standalone decorative accent.
It is well sized to serve side dishes at the table, or could be used to hold candy or other treats. I have also seen pieces of this size filled with water and used to float flowers as a unique centerpiece. Please note that due to the value of this ad, the part will be fully insured and sent with the signature confirmation service.
