Discarded on the wheel, this bowl measures 4 5/8\" x 11 1/2\" - and is hand-carved inside and out in a spiral pattern. It is finished in an elegant black charcoal glaze. I've been doing pottery professionally for over 30 years. Crafts are very important to me. The edges of my bowls are always rounded, and the foot of each bowl is always smooth. It is so important that the curve of my bowl is rounded just right. After throwing a bowl on the wheel, the bowl is adorned - so that the clay is the same thickness throughout. A foot is added at this point, so that the bowl can stand. The bowl is then sculpted, smoothed, and the terra sigillata is applied to the bottom. I am then ready to sign the coin.
After complete drying, the bowl is placed in the oven, and pulled to 1700 degrees. Finally, I apply several layers of unleaded glazes that are mostly formulated by me through years of testing, the bowl returns to the oven for final cooking.
And is then ready for you to buy. All the glazes used are of course unleaded and food-free, so your beautiful bowl can be used to serve food - or simply to accentuate your décor.
